The live recording of
ARMY

ARMY is a project with the poet Jean-Michel Espitallier. After a few classic lectures, with KTT playing bass in the back, He moved to the drums, and since then we play some kind of free-rock, on top of his voice, played by a sound file.

Festival Curtas Vila do Conde 2007

En gardant l'obturateur d‚une caméra ouvert dans un lieu totalement obscur, le pixel éprouve un certain sentiment de privation. Il est abandonné à lui-même. Il désire ce contact stimulant et gratifiant de la lumière, par lequel il est connecté au monde extérieur et devient partie d'un tout. La vidéo Molecular Black 2006 réalisée lors d'une collaboration chorégraphique de Myriam Gourfink avec Kasper Toeplitz, révélait ce phénomène en filmant dans l'obscurité totale.
Les pixels excités par l‚absence d‚image à définir y dévoilent leur nature chatoyante et deviennent elles mêmes une matière qui danse. Le scénario de Mechanical Nights inspiré par ce phénomène pixélisé et les mouvements de la danseuse s'accoste au rivage d‚un havre, le conte d'Anderson La Petite Sirène. Ici, le matériel principal est le pixel « réfléchi » comme une pâte a modeler. L'histoire est nécessaire a l'élan des images : pixel, séquence vidéo, photos, entre l'air et l'eau, une danseuse se métamorphose dans le chaos du noir artificiel. La sirène troque sa queue-de-poisson pour des jambes (Keja Ho Kramer)

Avis aux amateurs de vibrations sonores telluriques et de fréquences digitales gravitationnelles et corrosives : les Voûtes parisiennes résonneront le 24 juin prochain des échos redoutables des déconstructeurs contemporains que sont Zbigniew Karkowski et Kasper Toeplitz
Les possibilités, en matière de musique bruitiste, tendent vers un infini sonore que quelques chercheurs musicologues, esthètes de l'extrême, aiment à explorer comme de véritables scientifiques, passionnés par une forme audio radicale, nerveuse et débridée, qu'ils cherchent finalement davantage à guider et à dompter qu'à créer.
A chemin entre le work in progress tellurique et la performance sonique haut de gamme, la soirée The Computer Frequency Room, organisée le 24 juin prochain par l'association Basses Lumières, proposera dans le cadre confiné mais chaleureux des Voûtes les prestations, en solo et en duo, de deux des défricheurs européens parmi les plus réputés en matière d'aventures musicales aux limites de l'audible.
Tous deux d'origine polonaises, Zbigniew Karkowski et Kasper T. Toeplitz partagent également une formation musicale plutôt académique, qui leur a permis d'intégrer très tôt les approches de composition des musiques orchestrales - qu'elles proviennent de créateurs contemporains comme Georges Aperghis ou Pierre Boulez pour le premier, ou qu'elle s'intègre dans des formes particulières, telles que l'opéra, pour le second. Il en ressort, chez ces deux artistes, un goût du processus créatif qui dépasse le simple cadre du rendu sonore pour viser à décloisonner les genres et à repousser les limites de l'écriture musicale. Mais si leur objectif semble comparabale, leur interprétation et leur manière d'y parvenir diffèrent. Ainsi, quand Zbigniew Karkowski remet en cause les notions d'espace, tend à rompre les barrières en pensant l'artiste comme un exilé volontaire, en rejetant les définitions traditionnelles de la musique et en cherchant à confronter dans de nouvelles formes de partitions les sons électroniques et acoustiques, Kasper Toeplitz se préoccupe davantage du temps qui se fixe dans des entrechoquements de vagues bruissantes, en proie aux flux brutaux et aux reflux silencieux.
Destruction de la tradition d'un côté, oscillation de l'instant de l'autre, les deux performances solo de ces deux musiciens s'annoncent pour le moins radicales, passionnantes, déconcertantes. On attend également beaucoup de leur confrontation de duettistes, le laptop à la main, sous le nom de code Le Dépeupleur. Ce projet intense, qui lie les deux compositeurs préférant laisser libre cours à de nouvelles tentatives de structuration du « bruit blanc », dont témoignent trois CD déjà publiés sur les labels Cross Fade, R.O.S.A. et Auf Abwegem.
Complément idéal à ce déferlement fractal prévisible, les field recordings suspensifs de Strom.Varx, fragments environnementaux en forme de désacralisation minimaliste de l'objet musical, donneront un aperçu des travaux publiés par ce collectif sur le label parisien Ytterbium. Une belle programmation musicale en forme d'expérience sensitive ultime.
